Who Do You Serve

Are you a servant leader? If you are not serving those that you are trying to lead, how can you expect them to want to serve others? Do you lead from behind or do you drag your team kicking and screaming the whole way? When is the last time you allowed your team the freedom to actually take some control of the ship rather than constantly barraging them with instructions and new ideas on the way they are doing things wrong? When leading the team if you allow them the control and provide them guidance rather than condemnation you will be amazed with the results. Rather than leading with your product in mind, why not try and lead with your customer in mind instead. Here is another crazy thought … despite what everyone has heard... If you don’t make it about the money, but rather make it about the people you won’t have to scream show me the money from the rooftops because it will come naturally.

If we as leaders, whether of a small business, a corporation, church or of any type of team focus on the purpose and success of our team as the end rather than the means they will be more apt to gain their full potential. Rather than telling them what to do, how to do it if we facilitate their personal growth and show a true interest in them and their goals, the will have more of a sense of pride and ownership of their successes. Of course in order for us to truly lead this way we must become selfless, willing to risk it all on the basis of our team. Help our teams become champions, they will want to work hard and be successful if their leader is also their biggest supporter.

So before your next meeting, conference call or webinar think whether you as the leader truly have what it takes to lead by example in the life you lead and most of all you are serving your company or team in an honest an selfless manner.

Are you a Master Networker or a ....?

Are you a master networker or are you a networking jerk?  This is not to be insulting, more of a lesson learned in behavior while networking.  If you are one that is focused on how many people you can give your business card to, but don't spend more than 60 seconds with one person before you move to your next contact.  Sorry but you are a networking jerk.  Focused on schmoozing and glad handing to build your rolodex full of people that have no desire to business with you now or anytime in the future.

With all things being equal, and we all know they are never equal, you can be a master networker without being a jerk. If instead of focusing on the numbers we focus on developing the relationship with a select few during your meeting rather than having your eye wander to find the next contact.  Ask the first person you meet questions,  show genuine interest,  make it about them.  You may only meet a couple of contacts, maybe a few, thats okay!  If you add value to each meeting,  don't make it all about a sale, and find ways that you can poss serve them or someone they know either now or in the future. Before you know it you you will have a real contact list of people that you actually have a relationship with and want to do business with or help them with theirs.

In focusing on individuals rather than trying to see how many business cards you can collect and hand out, your business will begin to grow.  Rather than having a bunch of people in your email list that mark you as spam while you fill their inbox with your updates and newsletters.  Try sending personal letters,  postcards,  and emails to individuals rather than bulk.  Make your contacts personal,  pay attention to their wants and needs rather than yours. Before you know it your client list and friend list will be virtually the same.  You will have your best salespeople on your team without having to pay them a dime if you pay attention and respect them, they will willingly sell for you without being asked. So go to your next event with the intent to meet and get to know one or two people.  The more you grow and offer assistance to others the more they will return the favor and help you and your business grow in turn.

Blessings. ..

Leverage Your Future

Steps to take to leverage yourself.

1. Be honest - even when the truth hurts it causes less pain in the long run.

2. Serve rather than sell - if you make it all about the next sale those that could have been interested are running for the woods instead.

3. Integrity - when describing your service or product don't tell them only what they want to hear.

4. Check the ego - just because you or someone you know has had great success that does not give you a stakeholder share of arrogance.

5. Help others to help themselves,  bettter yet help those that can't help themselves or you.

6. Volunteer - become known for serving your community with an open heart before you know it you will be serving your clients differently too.

7. Be prompt and prepared - time is money waste someone's time they won't give you their money.

8. Relationships first - thats right you must develop a relationship beyond your business with your clients.   They are buying you not the product or service you are selling.

9. Become an authority but don't be one-  learn your product or service, USE it too, know enough to be dangerous but not too much to be a know-it-all.

10. BELIEVE - most of all believe in yourself,  your clients, your product or service.  Your clients will see right through you if you lack sincere honest belief in what you are sharing.

Chasing Success

How many of us feel like we are constantly trying to chase down our dreams and success.  Whether in our own business, school or working for someone else many feel like a fox chasing a hare that always seems to be just out of reach at every turn.  Rather than chasing success we should try and make a difference and success will find us.  Doing good deeds and serving others can benefit not only them but us as well many times over.  As long as these deeds and services are done with a clear head and pure heart, the positivity we share with others will be returned in time in the shape of success in our own lives.

That being said, there is still no substitute for hard work.  You are what you are where you are.  We cannot sit back on our laurels and expect great things to come to us.  We must roll up our sleeves and work hard, do the things that others won't so we can have what others don't.  As long as we go about it with a mind and heart of service, rather than just to get the next sale or meet a quota, or sign another prospect, success will follow forth in turn for our efforts.  It will take time and dedication and is not something that will happen overnight, then again Rome wasn't built in a day now was it?  Our success will be longer lasting as long as we earn it upon honesty, credibility and trust; that is what seperates an outstanding professional from the average professional.  So when we go to work whether it is in an office, a  car or our own living room as long as we keep the customers' best interest in mind and are willing to help those in need we will reach levels of success that even we could have hoped or dreamed.

Blessings...
